YOGYAKARTA: In a bid to popularize Indonesian traditional
snacks as well as providing the hotel's guests with Javanese
nuances, Yogyakarta Melia Purosani Hotel is presenting a Camilan
Sore (Afternoon Snacks) special offer.
Offered daily at 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Camilan Sore is afternoon
tea served Javanese-style, comprising a wide selection of
Javanese traditional drinks such as wedang jahe (hot ginger ale)
and snacks like serabi (rice cake) and lemper (steamed, sticky
rice).
To give it a specific Javanese nuance, Camilan Sore is also
served in the Javanese way, by using a locally-known angkringan,
a cart made of bamboo usually used by local street food vendors
to sell such snacks and beverages.
The elderly waitresses who serve the Camilan Sore are also
dressed in traditional Javanese costume," Endah said. -- JP
