JAKARTA - The Minister of Immigration and Resettlement (Imipas) of the Republic of Indonesia, Agus Andrianto, has revealed that the fast-track “Mekkah Route” service for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage has been expanded. With this service, Hajj pilgrims will undergo document checks and passport stamping directly in Indonesia, so upon arrival in Jeddah or Madinah, they no longer need to queue for immigration. “We also reported to Mr Minister (Hajj RI Irfan Yusuf) that we are adding the Mekkah Route, which was previously only at three airports—Soekarno-Hatta, Solo, and East Java—now extended to Makassar,” said Agus after a meeting with the Minister of Hajj and Umrah (Menhaj) RI Mochamad Irfan Yusuf at the Ministry of Hajj office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (15/4/2026). “Its usage might exceed 65 percent, and hopefully, departure will go smoothly,” Agus stated. Last year, Agus noted that nearly 60 percent of Hajj pilgrims departing for the Holy Land used this facility. “They will go through an easier process, just pass through the corridor, and then they can directly leave because the immigration check has been completed,” he explained. Thus, pilgrims using this service no longer need to undergo immigration checks upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. “The Mekkah Route conducts immigration checks for Saudi Arabia here, so when pilgrims arrive there, there are no more checks; they can go straight to the bus to their accommodation,” said Irfan.
