Megawati to open congress

SEMARANG, Central Java: Vice President Megawati Soekarnoputri,
who is also the leader of the Indonesian Democratic Party of
Struggle (PDI Perjuangan), is scheduled to open the party's
regional congress here on Saturday.

Officials of the party's Central Java chapter said on Friday
that Megawati would be accompanied by her husband Taufik Kiemas.

They also said Megawati would also hold a dialog during her
visit with residents of an area prone to the ocean's high tides
near the Tanjung Emas port. (har)
