President Prabowo Subianto utilised the presentation of credentials by eight ambassadors from friendly nations to reaffirm Indonesia’s position amidst global geopolitical dynamics. During a closed-door meeting with the diplomats, Prabowo emphasised the importance of resolving conflicts through peaceful channels and rejected military approaches as a solution to international issues.

The Head of State delivered this message while receiving the credentials of eight ambassadors newly assigned to Indonesia. The ceremony took as held at the Presidential Palace and was attended by Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anis Matta stated that the ambassadors representing various regions of the world include representatives from the Philippines, Sri Lanka, the Czech Republic, Greece, Palestine, Lebanon, South Korea, and Saint Lucia. According to Anis, during the meeting, Prabowo did not discuss specific conflicts, such as the situation in the Middle East, but instead explained the fundamental principles of Indonesia’s foreign policy, which remains committed to a ‘free and active’ stance.

“The President explained to the ambassadors Indonesia’s principle in international diplomacy, that we are free and active. We do not have military alliances with any country,” Anis told journalists at the Presidential Palace.

In an increasingly interconnected world, Prabowo believes that peaceful resolution is a primary necessity for maintaining global stability. Consequently, Indonesia encourages cooperation and dialogue as the way to resolve various conflicts. “Any form of military force used in resolving any conflict will not lead to a good outcome. Therefore, what we encourage is building a spirit of peace and cooperation with all parties,” Anis quoted from the President’s message.

The presentation of credentials also addressed questions regarding the delay in receiving several ambassadors who had arrived in Indonesia some time ago. Anis noted that Prabowo personally apologised to the diplomats for the postponed agenda, clarifying that the delay was solely due to his extremely busy schedule since his inauguration and his intense focus on managing global situations requiring full concentration.

Anis confirmed that the ambassadors understood the situation and responded positively. The meeting was held in a group format rather than individual sessions, allowing all diplomats the opportunity to convey messages from their respective heads of state or government to President Prabowo. Anis described the atmosphere as warm and friendly, noting that the ambassadors even enjoyed ‘Hambalang coffee’ served during the event.
