Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia revealed the outcomes of a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace on Tuesday (5/4/2026). The meeting covered topics including global crude oil prices and plans for reorganising the mining sector.

“I happened to be summoned by the President to discuss several developments, including the crude fuel price against the ICP,” said Bahlil after the meeting at the State Palace on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

In addition, Bahlil disclosed plans for restructuring the mining sector. According to him, in the future, the state wants to control more mining areas, as this relates to the implementation of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution.

“Specifically for mining operations, both old and new, we will try to optimise the state’s revenue to the maximum,” said Bahlil.

The General Chairman of the Golkar Party also explained that the intended restructuring will involve a new scheme for revenue sharing between business entities and the government.

“We will use examples like the revenue sharing from our oil and gas management. Our oil and gas has cost recovery and gross split; perhaps those patterns will be what we try to implement to build cooperation with the private sector,” he explained.

Bahlil also stated that the government will continue to grant permits or concessions to private parties/business entities to manage natural resources. However, additional instruments will be introduced to enable the government to optimise state revenues.

“It remains concessions, but we will optimise the revenue so that it is balanced with the state, and the state should get a larger share,” he said.
