Medical team 'guilty' in PON doping

SEMARANG (JP): The Central Java medical team acknowledged it was at fault for rower Djodi Winarso's failed drug test at the 15th National Games in Surabaya in June.

As a result of failing the drug test, Djodi, who was representing the province, was stripped of his bronze medal.

"Dr. Hardjono and Dr. Hartati admitted their fault. This is purely an error on the part of the doctors, not the athlete," said the coordinator of the province's medical team on Saturday.

Djodi was given tuzalos by the doctors after he complained of feeling ill. The medicine contains banned drugs.

Djodi faces sanction by the Indonesian Rowing and Canoeing Association, but the body has yet to decide on what penalty it will hand down. (har)
