Jakarta, VIVA – Efforts to resolve the case of alleged illegal access to securities accounts at PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas Indonesia through mediation have reached a deadlock.

A meeting facilitated by the Financial Services Sector Alternative Dispute Resolution Institution (LAPS SJK) in the Kuningan area of South Jakarta on Monday, 23 February 2026, ended without agreement.

The mediation was a follow-up to reports of alleged illegal access previously filed by the clients with the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). However, during the meeting, the company reportedly opted to pursue arbitration instead.

“The outcome of today’s meeting with Mirae is that Mirae remains insistent on pursuing arbitration,” said Krisna Murti, legal counsel for the affected clients.

According to Krisna, the clients were simply requesting the restoration of their portfolios to their original state before the funds went missing. He expressed disappointment at the company’s attitude, which he described as adversarial towards its own clients.

“Our request is straightforward — to restore the portfolios to their original condition. But Mirae treats it as though they are already on the opposing side, as if they are in a separate camp from us. We are not adversaries; we are victims,” he said.

He argued that the decision to pursue arbitration was misguided, noting that even arbitration proceedings begin with a mediation process.

“LAPS explained earlier that pursuing arbitration would also involve mediation first. So why not mediate here first? If we reach a deadlock here, it would be easier to proceed to the arbitration forum,” he said.

Krisna expressed hope that the report filed with Bareskrim Polri would be concluded swiftly to provide legal certainty. He noted that the case has attracted significant attention from capital market participants.

“We hope the Bareskrim report can be resolved quickly. LAPS also conveyed that the capital market is watching how this Mirae case is settled. There must be certainty,” he said.

Another legal representative for the victims, Aloy Ferdinand, added that during the mediation process, Mirae had taken issue with the police report filed by his clients. However, he affirmed that filing such a report was well within the victims’ rights.

“They complained about the police report — that is our right. Mirae suggested certain remedies to us, but here they appear to sit idle, as if other victims were also steered towards arbitration and ultimately left powerless. It was very clear today that there was no negotiation; they remained adamant about going through arbitration,” he said.
