Maybank and Bank Sinarmas Agree on Rp 500 Billion SRIA Transaction
JAKARTA – PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk and PT Bank Sinarmas Tbk have forged a collaboration in a Sharia Restricted Investment Account (SRIA) transaction valued at Rp 500 billion. This partnership is regarded as a new initiative in the development of Sharia-compliant investment instruments in Indonesia.
The SRIA facility agreement, under the mudharabah muqayyadah scheme, was signed on Friday (24/4/2026). In this transaction, Bank Sinarmas places Rp 500 billion in funds to be managed in accordance with Sharia principles with certain restrictions.
Romy H Buchari, Director of Maybank Indonesia’s Sharia Business Unit, stated that this collaboration represents one of the initial realisations of SRIA transactions involving investors from conventional banks.
He explained that the SRIA scheme enables investors to place funds with specific usage stipulations, including channelling to particular sectors based on preferences.
In this mechanism, the bank acts as an investment agent that channels the funds according to the investor’s instructions, with management still adhering to Sharia principles.
Romy added that this transaction reflects the synergy between the two banks in providing Sharia-based treasury solutions that comply with principles and regulations.
“This transaction not only fulfils Sharia principles but is also operationally feasible,” he said.
“We are confident that this synergy will open up broader collaboration opportunities in delivering healthy, transparent investments oriented towards sustainability,” said Ekajaya.
SRIA is a Sharia investment account with certain restrictions, where customers place funds in a Sharia bank to be managed according to the contract with specific instructions regarding fund usage.
Maybank Indonesia stated that it will continue to promote SRIA development through cross-institutional collaborations as part of efforts to deepen the national Sharia financial market.
