Meanwhile, during the first three days of the long weekend, as many as 554,407 passengers used KAI’s long-distance and local train services in Java and Sumatra.

KAI’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, said that the number is still increasing along with high public interest in travelling during the long holiday by using rail transportation.

Anne said that the long weekend period always presents very dynamic community movement.

“We see an increase in travel to tourist cities, culinary centres, and educational areas,” she said.

“Trains are here to keep people connected with their various travel needs,” Anne added.

Anne said that every train journey has a broad impact.

Community activities also move along, starting from the MSME sector around stations, onward transportation, accommodation, culinary centres, to local trade in destination cities.

“Mobility maintained during the long holiday period also provides space for community economic growth,” she continued.

Based on preliminary ticket sales data, the peak departure was recorded on Thursday (14/5/2026) with a total of 197,368 tickets sold, followed by Wednesday (13/5/2026) with 196,370 tickets.
