The electricity bills for public street lighting (PJU) and neighbourhood street lighting (PJL) in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), reach Rp 2.6 billion per month. Over a year, the electricity costs for street lighting amount to Rp 31.2 billion. “At Rp 2.6 billion per month, but that includes PJL as well. Our PJU is only Rp 400 million to Rp 500 million,” said the Head of the Mataram City Transportation Department (Dishub), Zulkarwin, on Thursday (7/5/2026). Zulkarwin explained that the public street lighting in Mataram City has implemented a metering system. This is done to ensure that the electricity power used matches the bill that must be paid by the government. “All PJU has been metered; we, together with PLN, have conducted a survey to ensure that the bills we receive match the power provided by PLN,” he added. On the other hand, Zulkarwin mentioned that there are still several road points in Mataram with minimal lighting due to damage to some electricity poles. These include Jalan Adi Sucipto, Jalan Saleh Hambali, and Jalan Brawijaya. “Last year, we already intervened on Jalan Arya Banjar Getas to Jalan Komjen M Yasin,” said Zulkarwin. On the other hand, Zulkarwin stated that this year the Mataram City Government (Pemkot) has no budget for procuring CCTV or Area Traffic Control System (ATCS) cameras. “If there is any installation, we utilise the existing poles for refurbishment,” he concluded.
