Mataram City’s Satpol PP has warned vendors selling sacrificial animals to move their stalls from pavements and roadways to vacant lots. Key locations under scrutiny include Dakota area, Majapahit Street, Langko Street, and Kekalik. Satpol PP Chief Irwan Rahadi confirmed patrols will be conducted, particularly in the Dakota area through to Majapahit Street. ‘This is seasonal, but even so, they cannot act as they please; we will patrol to remind them,’ he said on Sunday, 24 May 2026. Irwan stressed that Mataram City Government does not prohibit vendors from earning a living ahead of Eid al-Adha. However, economic activities must comply with regulations and not obstruct pedestrians or road users. ‘We allow them to operate, but that does not justify using roadways, pavements, or drains,’ Irwan emphasised. So far, Mataram’s Satpol PP has identified several violations on key roads, including Pahlawan area and Langko Street. Officers have already issued direct warnings to stall owners at these sites. ‘We have reminded some locations to move back. The principle is to be accommodating, but not on the pavement. Move back a little; there’s usually vacant land behind,’ he explained. According to Irwan, the persuasive approach has received positive responses from some vendors. Several stalls suspected of misusing pavements have begun moving back. ‘Animal waste causes issues there, and damage occurs due to vehicle movement for transportation,’ he added.
