Residents of Mataram City planning to travel home for Eid are being urged to leave their house keys with neighbours or their neighbourhood head (RT). This is to ensure home security whilst residents are away during the holiday period.

“For residents who are travelling and leaving their homes, we urge them to report to their local RT. Before leaving the house, ensure it is in a secure condition,” said Kasat Pol PP Mataram, Irwan Rahadi, when contacted on Monday (16 March 2026).

“We emphasise to all homeowners to leave their house keys, at minimum with their nearest neighbours. So if something undesirable happens, such as a fire, it can be handled effectively and as quickly as possible,” he added.

Irwan said the 2026 Eid holiday period is a serious priority for Mataram Civil Police. He assured that his officers would conduct routine patrols during the extended Eid holiday.

“We will conduct routine patrols during the travel period. We have also mapped several residential complexes that have frequently been a focus of attention due to resident reports. Whether due to disturbances, theft, or other matters,” he explained.

Irwan detailed several residential areas that have been mapped based on theft-prone locations. “For example, in the areas of Pagutan, Pagutan Permai, Priya Pagutan, and many others,” he said.

It was previously reported that the West Nusa Tenggara Police has prepared a vehicle storage service for residents planning to travel home. Vehicles can be stored by visiting the nearest police station.

“At police substations we provide a storage service for motorcycles or cars if people want to travel to their respective regions,” said West Nusa Tenggara Police Chief, Inspector General Edy Murbowo, previously.

The vehicles will be parked in the forecourt of the police substation and police headquarters. This vehicle storage service is provided at no cost.

“We will then socialise this so residents are aware of this information. So that in the forecourt of the police headquarters and substations, we will use the space to park the vehicles of residents who will travel to their respective regions,” he said.
