The Mataram City Police Resort (Polresta) has mapped several alternative routes along Pejanggik Road in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), to ease traffic congestion during the ogoh-ogoh procession welcoming Nyepi Day on the main thoroughfare.

Zulkarwin, Head of the Mataram City Transportation Office (Dishub), announced that the ogoh-ogoh procession will take place on Wednesday, 18 March. He called on residents wishing to watch the procession to use small alleys and collector routes in the vicinity of Pejanggik Road.

“We urge residents who want to watch the ogoh-ogoh procession to use collector routes or small alleys to reach the procession location, as the main route will be closed until the procession concludes,” Zulkarwin stated on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Zulkarwin outlined several alternative routes to avoid congestion during the procession on Pejanggik Road. These include accessing Bung Hatta Road heading south, then heading north via Terusan Bung Hatta Road, or travelling via Transito Road to Sriwijaya Road in Mataram.

The Mataram Transportation Office will deploy dozens of personnel to assist police in managing congestion during the ogoh-ogoh procession. “We will have a Dishub team on hand to ease congestion throughout the ogoh-ogoh procession,” Zulkarwin explained.

AKP Muhammad Puteh Rinaldi, Traffic Unit Commander of Polresta Mataram, outlined traffic management measures that will be implemented during the ogoh-ogoh procession. The Pejanggik Road intersection will be closed and traffic will be diverted via Hos Cokroaminoto Road to Tumpang Sari Road.

“Along the entire stretch of road leading to Pejanggik Road, traffic diversions will be implemented from 08:00 to 18:00 local time,” Puteh stated.

“All Mataram residents are urged to use alternative routes and follow instructions from officers on the ground,” he concluded.
