Mataram Depot Sells 3kg LPG Above HET, Faces Quota Reduction Penalty
The Mataram Trade Department (Disdag) has reported several rogue liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) depots to the National Association of Oil and Gas Entrepreneurs (Hiswana Migas). The reason is that these depots were caught selling 3-kilogram (kg) LPG at Rp20,000 or more. However, the maximum retail price (HET) for gas cylinders is Rp18,000 per cylinder.
Head of the Essential Goods and Services Division of Disdag Mataram, Sri Wahyunida, stated that the rogue depots were found in one of the areas of the City of a Thousand Mosques. Nida emphasised that these are LPG depots, not retailers. Nida has obtained videos and interviews confirming they sell 3kg LPG at Rp20,000 per cylinder.
“(Following the findings) we immediately sent letters to Pertamina and Hiswana Migas, and warning letters were issued promptly. They were reprimanded; those who previously received a quota of 35 cylinders now have it reduced to 10 cylinders,” said Nida when interviewed after the Mataram Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) meeting on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
“(The letter’s content) in point three states ‘depots must sell 3-kilogram LPG in accordance with the HET of Rp18,000 per cylinder. Based on that point, we impose a sanction in the form of restriction on regular allocation’. It’s a reduction of more than 60 percent,” Nida added.
As a result of the raid by Disdag Mataram along with related agencies, there were three rogue depots in Mataram selling gas cylinders above the HET. The three LPG depots immediately received their first warning. The depots will be closed if they violate again.
Nida urged the public to boldly report any findings in the field, especially rogue agents or depots selling 3kg gas cylinders above the HET. This is because the government has set the price of 3-kilogram LPG at Rp18,000 per cylinder.
“If the public finds any, don’t just report verbally; (if possible) provide video so we can use it as evidence and follow up,” Nida requested.
On the other hand, based on the meeting results with Pertamina and related parties, Nida assured that the 3kg LPG stock in Mataram is safe.
