Massive development projects planned for coastal areas
While PT Trans Indo Duta Utama is conducting feasibility studies for the construction of a container terminal in Cikupa, a sea port in Tanjung Pasir and a 50-kilometer toll road that will link the port with Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the Tangerang administration is also processing the permits for four investors to develop the regency's northern coastal area.
They are Koperasi Pariwisata Pasir Putih (KPPP), PT Parung Harapan, PT Kosambi Harapan Utama and Koperasi Pariwisata Tanjung Pasir (KPTP).
KPPP plans to develop 100 hectares of beach area in Dadap village of the Kosambi district. KPPP has reclaimed a part of Dadap beach that had been seriously damaged by erosion.
With a total investment of Rp 1 trillion (about US$110 million), KPPP will build recreation parks that will be equipped with cottages, a hotel, golf course and water recreation facilities such as speed boats. The construction is scheduled to be completed in five years.
According to the head of the regency's tourism agency Deddy Supriadi, while KPPP has started its construction project, PT Parung Harapan, PT Kosambi Harapan Utama and KPTP were still preparing to commence construction.
PT Parung Harapan and PT Kosambi Harapan Utama plan to develop sections of the coastal area for housing estates and shopping malls, recreation sites and hotels.
PT Parung Harapan will develop 75 hectares of land in East Kosambi district while PT Kosambi Harapan has been allocated about 150 hectares of land in Teluk Naga.
KPTP has also been licensed to carry out four development projects in Teluk Naga. The first project will include the construction of a sea port that will be specially used for wood shipment and a shipyard that will be built near Cisadane River in Tanjung Burung.
The second project will involve the construction of a sea port near Dadap beach that will be used to load and unload goods for the warehousing located near Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The third project will be the construction of a tourist resort in Muara Kalong of the Teluk Naga district, that will include restaurants, shopping malls, and a quay to serve interisland boat trips. The fourth project will cover the development of a water transportation facility which will link Cisadane River and Teluk Naga.
KPTP chairman, Machdiar, said no residents would be evicted to make way for the four projects. "The projects will instead provide promising business opportunities for local residents," he said.
