Market kiosks sold out
TANGERANG (JP): The regency plans to build kiosks in a market which is prioritized for sidewalk vendors.
The chief of the market management authority, Bunyamin, said each kiosk will be sold for Rp 6 million and can be paid for in installments.
The market is in the Sepatan subdistrict, Pasar Kemis.
"The buyers are required to pay a down payment, which is 20 percent of the price of the kiosk. The remainder can be paid in installments for two to three years," he explained.
However, most of the buyers are not street vendors operating around Pasar Kemis district.
The right to buy the kiosks was done by lottery.
One vendor, Agus, said he was told by Bunyamin not to take part in the draw and assured him he would still get a kiosk.
In the third week of April, Agus returned to Bunyamin's house and asked him to provide him with a kiosk. But to Agus' disappointment, Bunyamin replied: "No more kiosks are available because all of them have been sold."
Agus told The Jakarta Post yesterday that Bunyamin had lied to him and he would sue him. (18/bas)
