PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) continues to expand its export markets, now reaching more countries. Following its recent penetration into the African continent, SIG is extending its export reach to the European market. The expansion into Europe is being carried out with the inaugural shipment of 11,275 metric tonnes (MT) of cement to Reunion Island, France, via PT Semen Padang’s Teluk Bayur Port. This shipment of 11,275 MT of cement represents the first phase of a total 31,500 MT to be exported to Reunion Island over the period May to July 2026. SIG’s President Director, Indrieffouny Indra, stated that the export to Reunion Island is an achievement demonstrating the company’s commitment to strengthening its position in the global market to create long-term added value. This accomplishment also serves as recognition of the superiority of SIG’s environmentally friendly cement products. “SIG’s initiative to deliver green cement that is environmentally friendly becomes a competitive advantage for the company. The CEM I 52.5 N type cement produced by SIG, exported to Reunion Island, has successfully obtained CE (Conformité Européenne) Marking, which is a mandatory mark indicating that the product meets the safety, health, and environmental protection standards set by the European Union,” said Indrieffouny Indra, quoted from his statement on Tuesday, 5 May 2026. Indrieffouny Indra added that Reunion Island, which is part of French territory, is a potential market with high prospects for infrastructure growth. Therefore, in the future, SIG hopes to export other building materials to meet construction needs in the area. “In addition to strengthening the domestic market, SIG also continues to maximise global market potential to increase utilisation and performance growth, as well as to demonstrate the quality of SIG’s environmentally friendly products to contribute to supporting sustainable development in various countries,” he explained. The cement export to Reunion Island is part of SIG’s transformation strategy to expand markets and improve utilisation. In its implementation, SIG collaborates with strategic partners focused on providing sustainable solutions for the global market, particularly low-carbon emission products such as cement.
