Market at Klender
Market at Klender
From Media Indonesia
Management of the Market Cooperative of the Klender housing
complex, on behalf of the members and other vendors in the area,
is questioning the statement made by Commission B of the Jakarta
Legislative Body. The statement, which was published in a city
newspaper on Sept. 8, 1995, demanded that the construction of the
complex market be stopped for the time being.
If this is true, we would like to express our deep concern and
deplore the statement because it means the vendors would have to
keep using the makeshift market much longer. They have been there
since the market was gutted by fire in December 1993.
For your information, there are about 440 vendors experiencing
inconvenience in the temporary building. Business is sluggish and
we find it hard to improve our economy. The longer we use the
place, the worse the situation becomes and ultimately we will
face bankruptcy.
Therefore we sincerely ask the authorities to accelerate the
construction of the complex market so that we can conduct our
business profitably.
