AMBON, Maluku: Police are investigating reports that a
manpower supplier illegally sent eight local job seekers to
Malaysia last year.

Chief of the provincial office of manpower Sadjid said that
the suspect, identified only as AA, may have fled the province on
learning that he was wanted by the police.

The authorities moved to track AA down following a complaint
from one of the job seekers, Ibnu Mulyono, that the manpower
supplier had cheated him and left him in Malaysia without the
promised job.

AA is suspected of smuggling the workers, who did not even
have passports, Antara said.(pan)
