Management of courts to change: Yusril
Minister of Justice and Human Rights Yusril Ihza Mahendra said on Thursday that management of the country's judicial courts would be under the authority of the Supreme Court in 2003 to avoid duality.
"If the judicial court is placed under the Supreme Court, judiciary issues will no longer be handled by the Ministry of Justice," Yusril said in Bandarlampung, Lampung, on Thursday evening.
At present, the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights handles administrative and financial matters in the courts, while the Supreme Court takes care of other institutional matters.
Yusril said that the government could not interfere in the judicial court -- comprising the general court, state court and ad hoc human rights court -- as it was an independent body.
"To guarantee no government interference, we need regulations that eliminate the possibility of nepotism," he said. --Antara
