JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) invites the public to utilise the 2026 Eid holiday by visiting Malalayang Beach or Malalayang Beach Walk in Manado, North Sulawesi. The beach tourism area now appears more organised, comfortable, and representative following development by the Ministry of PU. With the completion of Phase II development, the total length of the organised Malalayang Beach Walk now reaches 2 kilometres. Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo stated that the development of the Malalayang Beach area not only beautifies the face of Manado City but also brings added value to the surrounding community through increased tourism activities and business opportunities. “With the presence of representative public facilities, the Malalayang area is expected to become a flagship destination that attracts more tourists and opens business opportunities for the local community,” said Dody, quoted from an official statement on Tuesday (24/03/2026). The development of the Malalayang Beach area was carried out through the North Sulawesi Building, Infrastructure and Area Arrangement Agency (BPBPK), Directorate General of Human Settlements. This step is part of efforts to provide tourism infrastructure that supports visitor comfort while strengthening the local economy. The area is also equipped with various public facilities such as children’s playgrounds, small and large theatres, pedestrian bridges, boat docking piers, fishermen’s monuments, view decks, public toilets, culinary kiosks, wedding halls, tourist towers, diving centres, and clock towers. In addition to the Malalayang Beach development, the Ministry of PU is also developing the Bunaken area through road improvements, gate construction, pedestrian paths, and piers to strengthen marine tourism accessibility in North Sulawesi. The area development considers tourist comfort and the needs of the surrounding community. Malalayang Beach is located at Jalan Laut Sulawesi, Malalayang Dua, Malalayang Subdistrict, Manado City, North Sulawesi. From the city centre, this area can be reached in about 10 minutes, with a distance of approximately 4 kilometres.
