Police have arrested a man identified as JF (27) who went viral for damaging another driver’s vehicle on the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) toll road. JF was apprehended at his residence in Ciputat, South Tangerang. “The suspect was arrested at his home in Ciputat, South Tangerang,” said AKP Pendi Wibison, Panit 1 of the Mobile Investigation Subdirectorate of the Criminal Investigation Directorate at Jakarta Metropolitan Police, in a video statement to reporters on Sunday (31 May 2026). Initial investigations revealed JF became angry after feeling he was not given way when attempting to overtake the victim’s vehicle, driven by Peter. Police have formally charged JF under Article 521 of the Indonesian Penal Code for property damage. He faces up to six months in prison or a maximum fine of Rp 10 million. The case drew public attention after dashcam footage from Peter went viral on TikTok and Instagram. In the video, Peter’s car is seen driving in the left lane while another vehicle behind attempts to move into the right lane. A loud collision is heard shortly after. The same vehicle then stops in front of Peter’s car. The driver exits and approaches Peter. “What’s wrong, sir?” Peter asks in the video. “Who’s tailgating? I already used my indicator, sir,” Peter responds. “If it’s possible, it’s fine, sir,” the man says before another collision is heard. The man then returns to his vehicle. In another mobile phone recording, the suspect is seen striking Peter’s right-side mirror three times with a wheel wrench. Peter claimed he initially tried to chase the suspect but chose to stop pursuing and take legal action. According to Peter, he gave the suspect until Friday (29 May 2026) to apologise, but as there was no willingness to apologise, the case was reported to Kebayoran Lama Police Station.
