The Perpetrator Who Assaulted Petrol Station Staff Turns Out to Be a Rental Worker, Tests Positive for Meth and Marijuana
Police stated that the man with the initials JMH, who assaulted three petrol station employees in Cipinang, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, was a civilian working for a rental company.
“The perpetrator, JMH (31), has been confirmed not to be a member of the National Police, but rather a worker for a rental company,” said the Head of the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Alfian Nurrizal, to reporters on Wednesday (25 February).
Alfian revealed that they also conducted a urine test on the perpetrator, which came back positive for drug use. The urine test was conducted because the perpetrator frequently changed his statements during the investigation process.
“After the urine test, the perpetrator tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana,” said Alfian.
Previously, three petrol station employees in Cipinang, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, were allegedly victims of an assault by a person claiming to be an authority figure on Sunday (22 February) at around 10 pm.
The incident began when a customer came to fill up with Pertalite fuel. When the barcode was scanned, the vehicle’s registration number was registered in the system, but the type of car used did not match the data displayed.
According to standard operating procedures (SOP), the staff then refused to fill the Pertalite and offered an alternative solution. The customer was directed to fill up with Pertamax, which does not use a barcode system.
However, this refusal allegedly triggered the customer’s anger. An incident occurred, leading to an alleged act of violence against the three petrol station employees.
The perpetrator, JMH, was eventually arrested by a joint team from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pulogadung Police in the Rawalumbu area, East Bekasi, on Tuesday (24 February).
The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed that the perpetrator was not a member of the authorities, but a civilian working as an entrepreneur.
“The perpetrator has been secured and confirmed not to be a member of the National Police,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
