Man Shocked by Rp 222,000 Motorcycle Parking Fee at Babelan Hospital During Child's Admission
BEKASI – A resident of Hurip Jaya Village, Babelan District, Bekasi Regency, named Syamsuri was shocked to discover he had been charged Rp 222,000 for parking his motorcycle at RS Ananda Babelan Hospital.
The incident gained public attention after a video of Syamsuri’s account was uploaded to TikTok account @cecep and subsequently shared by Instagram account @bekasi.terkini.
Syamsuri parked two motorcycles at the hospital for three days, from Sunday 22 February 2026 to Tuesday 24 February 2026, whilst his child was hospitalised with dengue fever.
“When I went to get a waiting card, I was directed to the parking counter. For one motorcycle, I gave it to my wife who had a parking membership card. When I was leaving, I gave my parking barcode and it turned out to be Rp 222,000,” Syamsuri explained in a post on Instagram account @bekasi.terkini.
He stated he had requested a discount from the parking management but was told payment in full was required.
“There was no discount; they said I had to pay,” Syamsuri said.
Gozali, head of security for RS Ananda Babelan’s parking facility, explained that the hospital applies different rates for members and non-members.
“When patients are admitted, we inform them to register for a parking membership for inpatient vehicles, whether motorcycles or cars. For motorcycles, it costs around Rp 20,000 for three days,” Gozali stated when met by Kompas.com at RS Ananda on Friday 27 February 2026.
He noted that the standard rate for motorcycles, displayed at the parking entrance, is Rp 3,000 per hour with no maximum parking duration limit.
“He brought two motorcycles – one was registered as a member parking vehicle and one was not. He also knew that the motorcycle registered as a member would cost only Rp 20,000,” Gozali said.
Vehicles not registered as members are charged based on the accumulation of parking hours.
“He should have understood why the rates were different. Now if he didn’t register as a member, multiply four days for the motorcycle being parked here – how much would that be,” he stated.
Gozali believed the matter should have been resolved through communication with the parking management.
