Man jumps to death from tower

JAMBI, Jambi: People in the provincial capital of Jambi were
shocked on Friday by a suicide jump allegedly carried out by an
identified man from a tower belonging to state telecommunications
company Telkom in the downtown area.

Jambi Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Allorante said the body of
the man was found by a Telkom security guard at around 8 a.m.

The tower is 80 meters tall, and based on the severity of the
injuries sustained by the man Allorante speculated the
unidentified person must have collided with the steel framework
of the tower before crashing to the ground.

Further evidence of the suicide jump was given by the fact
that a number of bolts were missing and a crossbar had fallen.

Allorante said police were investigating the reason behind the
suicide, which, according to him, may have taken place between 4
a.m. and 6 a.m.

The body was taken to Raden Mattahir general hospital for an
