Man jailed for heroin possession

TANGERANG, West Java (JP): A 25-year-old man got four years
jail on Friday for possessing 65 grams of heroin.

The Tangerang District Court found Bali tour guide Herry Agung
Sugiono had violated Law No. 9/1976 on narcotics.

He was also fined Rp 10 million.

The sentence was a year less than the prosecutor's demand.

"The defendant was cooperative during the trial," presiding
judge Marni Emmy said.

The defendant, accompanied by lawyer Husen Tuhuteru, said he
would probably appeal.

Agung was arrested at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on
July 16 this year when he was about to go to Denpasar.

The defendant said he bought the heroin from a man in Bali
named Aby for Rp 14 million sometime ago. He said he wanted to
resell it in Bali. (27/sur)
