Man gets 15 months for drugs

JAKARTA (JP): The South Jakarta District Court sentenced on Monday an unemployed man to 15 months in prison for possessing 0.7564 grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine).

The sentence handed down to Burhani, 28, was the same amount of jail time sought by the prosecutor.

The defendant was arrested on Oct. 21 last year when the city police's narcotics unit raided his residence on Jl. Kebalen in Mampang, South Jakarta. During the raid, police found 15 small packets of shabu-shabu hidden in match boxes.

The defendant, who was not accompanied by a lawyer during sentencing, said he accepted the court's decision. (01)
