MZ (28 years old), the suspect in the murder of his half-sister with the initials ASA (12 years old), faces a 20-year prison sentence. He killed the child at his residence in Kampung Warung Tiwu, RT 02/16, Cipatat Village, Cipatat District, West Bandung Regency, West Java on Tuesday 3 March 2026.

Police will charge the suspect under multiple articles: Articles 458 (subsection 3), 459, 469 (subsection 2), and 479 (subsection 3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, and/or Article 80 (subsection 3) of Law Number 35 of 2014 on amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 on Child Protection.

“For his actions, suspect MZ faces a 20-year prison sentence,” said Cimahi Police Chief AKBP Niko Nurallah Adi Putra when contacted on Monday 9 March 2026.

MZ was arrested and detained after brutally taking his half-sister’s life, leaving the victim with wounds to the neck, back and hands from cuts made by a machete or parang. In his statement to police, the suspect confessed to committing the savage act because he was resentful towards his half-sister.

The suspect was initially upset over differential treatment by their parents towards the victim. They had lived together for approximately 13 years in a house that witnessed the suspect’s savage killing of his half-sister using a sharp-edged machete, causing severe wounds to the neck, back and hands. The suspect subsequently moved to Cianjur Regency after marrying.

“The perpetrator lived together with the victim for 13 years, then married and moved to Cianjur. During their years living together, he perceived the treatment of the victim by their parents as different, and his sister frequently angered the perpetrator,” said Niko.
