Man detained for killing friend

JAKARTA (JP): South Jakarta Police arrested two unemployed men yesterday for killing a friend on Jl. Pinang Kali Jati, in Cilandak, Sunday.

Cilandak Police Chief Capt. Nurhayati said Tutuk Raharjo, 37, and Rahmat Saleh, 23, beat and stabbed Suwarso to death because the victim had often stolen their clothes.

Tutuk was arrested in a house in the area while Rahmat was arrested in South Banten, West Java, Nurhayati said.

The suspects accompanied Suwarso to a drinking stall before killing him in an empty car workshop in the area, she said.

She said the police seized a sickle from one of the suspects and a piece of wood found at the scene. (cst)
