Man arrested for killing wife
BOGOR (JP): Forty-five-year-old Agus bin Karta reportedly confessed on Tuesday to killing his second wife Lilis, 35, whose body was found in a ditch near their house in Leuwiliang subdistrict in Bogor on Saturday morning, police said.
Bogor Police chief Lt. Col. Ade Husein said the murder was triggered by a quarrel the couple had on Friday night.
"Agus accused Lilis of having an affair with another man. And his wife replied that she was cheating on him," Ade said.
Agus then reportedly tried to talk things out with Lilis, but she became furious and run toward a rice field.
The husband then chased Lilis and grabbed her by the arms.
"Agus said he hit Lilis' head twice with a rock, dragged her into the ditch around the paddy field and left the body," Ade said.
Agus denied having anything to do with Lilis' death when first questioned by the police. He claimed he was not in the house on the night of the murder.
But after police questioned witnesses and checked available evidence, Agus confessed to the killing, saying he was jealous of and angry at his wife.
The case is being further processed by the Bogor Police. (21/edt)
