Malaysian Prime Minister receives Indonesian Ambassador, agree to strengthen bilateral cooperation
Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) — Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim received a courtesy visit from Indonesian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador (LBBP) to Malaysia Dato’ Mohammad Iman Hascarya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Monday.
During the meeting between Prime Minister Anwar and Ambassador Iman, both sides agreed to efforts aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two nations.
“We have agreed to enhance trade and investment cooperation in line with the brotherhood and strategic relations between our two countries,” said PM Anwar in a statement in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
Anwar conveyed congratulations to Ambassador Iman on beginning his duties to strengthen Indonesia-Malaysia relations, which have been established for a long time.
He expressed optimism that cooperation could be translated through increased exchange of visits and strengthened communication between the highest leadership of the two countries, to ensure that shared agendas can be implemented more effectively.
On this occasion, PM Anwar also expressed his desire to attend the D-8 Summit in Jakarta in April 2026.
He hoped that the visit could demonstrate Malaysia’s sustained commitment to strengthening regional and international cooperation.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Iman reported that in the meeting, he and PM Anwar exchanged views regarding current geopolitical developments that could potentially affect regional dynamics and stability.
Ambassador Iman conveyed PM Anwar’s statement that he regularly communicates with President Prabowo Subianto to discuss efforts to enhance Indonesia-Malaysia trade, particularly in the border areas between the two countries.
“He also reaffirmed his commitment to attend and actively participate in the D-8 Summit in Indonesia, as well as to support the strengthening of economic cooperation among member countries,” said Ambassador Iman.
