Kuala Lumpur — Malaysia’s Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil has stated that the Malaysian government is reviewing the implementation of work-from-home (WFH) for the public sector and government employees as an efficiency measure amid global geopolitical conditions.

Fahmi, speaking in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday and serving as the government spokesperson, announced that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has requested relevant parties review the policy.

“The Prime Minister has requested the WFH proposal be examined to align with the public sector,” said Fahmi.

As previously reported, Malaysia is also implementing a state spending reduction policy to anticipate the impacts of geopolitical developments on the country.

These savings include eliminating Eid open houses (open house receptions) by ministries, government agencies, and Government-Linked Companies (GLCs), as well as restricting overseas visits by cabinet members.

However, Anwar stated that his government would maintain the price of RON 95 fuel at 1.99 ringgit (approximately Rp8,584) per litre amid rising global oil prices.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that his government would continue to closely monitor developments in global conflicts and take additional measures to ensure the country’s economic stability remains protected and safeguard public welfare.
