Malaysia to train Mindanao Moslems

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuter): Malaysia will offer economic training
to Moslems in the Philippines' Mindanao island after the signing
of a peace pact between Moro separatists and the government,
Bernama news agency reported yesterday.

It quoted Foreign Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who said
Malaysia would make the offer to Moro National Liberation Front
(MNLF) leader Nur Misuari.

"I hope we can inform them formally, to Nur Misuari himself,
that Malaysia is willing to offer any form of training they
required," he said when interviewed on television on Wednesday.

Abdullah said Malaysia's assistance could include receiving
students from southern Philippines to attend courses on
development strategies and related fields.
