Malaysia Condemns US-Israeli Attack on Iran, Indonesia Calls for All Parties to Exercise Restraint
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan stated that Malaysia strongly condemned Israel’s attack on Iran. Kuala Lumpur asserted that the world currently does not require a new war.
“This aggressive action will only increase the suffering of innocent people and create opportunities for wider conflict. The world today does not need a new war,” said Mohamad Hasan in a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
Hasan said the attack was highly concerning and risked triggering greater tensions in the region.
According to him, the attack clearly violated principles of international law, including the Geneva Conventions, resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, the UN General Assembly, and principles enshrined in the UN Charter.
He assessed that the attack also violated a nation’s sovereignty and threatened regional security and stability. “Whatever reasons are given, violence is not the path to resolution,” said Hasan.
He emphasised that Malaysia strongly condemned Israel’s actions and called for the attack to be halted immediately. “Negotiations must be conducted to ensure peace and global stability,” said Hasan.
Meanwhile, Indonesia’s statement did not use the language of condemnation. The Indonesian Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, deeply regretted the failure of negotiations between the US and Iran, which had resulted in military escalation in the Middle East region.
Indonesia called for all parties to exercise restraint and prioritise dialogue and diplomacy. Indonesia reiterated the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of every nation and resolving differences through peaceful means.
