A political communications analyst, M Jamiluddin Ritonga, has said that Prabowo Subianto’s first appearance in a plenary session to deliver the Macro-Economic Framework (KEM) and the Core Policy of Fiscal Policy (PPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN was an effort to secure support from eight factions in the Parliament. This is particularly important amid the recent depreciation of the rupiah.

‘President Prabowo Subianto wants to secure support from eight factions in the DPR amid the rupiah’s weakness,’ Ritonga told reporters on Thursday (21 May 2026).

In addition to appealing to the public, he noted that Prabowo also seeks market confidence from his attendance at the DPR plenary session.

‘His presence in Senayan is also intended to show the public that his economic policies enjoy full support from the DPR RI,’ Ritonga said.

‘Demonstrating this support is also necessary so that the same will later be supported by the public,’ he added.

‘Therefore, Prabowo is presenting policies that are pro-people. All of this is intended to advance the welfare of the people, especially those less fortunate,’ Ritonga said.

Earlier, Prabowo felt it necessary to attend the DPR plenary meeting to convey the key ideas on the economy and the management of the state to the Parliament amid the current global economic situation.

‘Because the conditions we face are like this, I believe that the President of the Republic of Indonesia should directly present the main ideas of the economy and state management,’ Prabowo said in his speech at the DPR Plenary Session, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (20 May 2026).

Prabowo admitted that he deliberately asked for time to stand before the people’s representatives.

‘We as a nation are now facing geopolitical and geo-economic challenges that are full of conflict, tension, and uncertainty,’ he said.

‘The fighting is taking place in many places, even in Europe and the Middle East, in a region that, although distant from us, clearly has a very large impact on our lives,’ he added.
