Makassar Toll Road Traffic Set to Rise by 6 Percent Ahead of Eid
Traffic on Makassar Toll Road is forecast to rise by around six percent during the Lebaran period in 2026 compared with normal daily conditions. The peak return flow on 28 March 2026 is predicted to reach 117,853 vehicles per day for the combined two sections of Makassar Toll Road managed by MMN and MAN. MMN and MAN, the operators of the Makassar Toll Road, announced the forecast during a press briefing in Makassar on Thursday. According to projection data, the peak for mudik (outbound) occurs on 18 March 2026 with a daily traffic of 118,906 vehicles. “Sementara puncak arus balik pada 28 Maret 2026 diprediksi mencapai 117.853 kendaraan per hari untuk gabungan kedua ruas Jalan Tol Makassar yang dikelola MMN dan MAN,” he said. As a vital access linking the business hub, residential areas, and Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, additional dedicated staff will be deployed during the period to ensure 24-hour high-quality service. Operationally, the entire toll road stretch of 24.85 km is supported by 41 toll gates (automatic and hybrid), as well as service vehicles such as tow trucks, ambulances, and patrol units. Ismail explained that Makassar Toll Road shows a different pattern from Java’s intercity toll roads. “Towards Lebaran, vehicles from outside the city tend to enter Makassar for holiday shopping and logistics deliveries. As Lebaran approaches, traffic density shifts to outbound movement from the city,” he said.
