A major fire destroyed a furniture warehouse and employee dormitory located on Jalan Persada, Kerobokan Kelod Village, North Kuta District, Badung, Bali. The flames broke out in the early morning hours and were completely extinguished by midday.

“The fire rapidly consumed wood and structures covering 7 are (a traditional area measurement). Material losses reached Rp 5 billion,” stated the North Kuta Police Chief, Kompol I Ketut Agus Pasek Sudina, on Sunday (15 March 2026).

Pasek revealed that firefighters battled the blaze for nearly eight hours, deploying 10 fire trucks with cooling operations concluding at 11:30 Wita (Western Indonesia Time).

The fire began when a witness named Pulum spotted sparks, apparently caused by an electrical short circuit in the roof area near a jointer machine. The witness initially attempted to extinguish the fire with available equipment. However, the presence of numerous chemical liquids and dry wooden materials caused the flames to spread rapidly.

“Initially the witness tried to spray water, but because there were many flammable materials there, the fire became increasingly wild, spreading throughout the entire space. The witness then shouted to call coworkers and the warehouse owner at the location to evacuate,” Agus Pasek explained.

According to Pasek, the fire also spread to residential areas surrounding the warehouse location. This included a house belonging to Wayan Tapa, which sustained damage to its boundary wall and water tank.

“The house of a resident next to the warehouse was affected in the wall and water tank sections with estimated damage of approximately Rp 20 million,” he added.

The warehouse owner, I Gede Agam Wihanta Pratama, is now coordinating with police regarding documentation of burnt assets. Pasek emphasised that there were no fatalities in the fire incident.

“There were no fatalities because all dormitory residents quickly evacuated when the fire began to spread,” he explained.

Based on crime scene investigation results, the electrical installation in the furniture warehouse had reportedly experienced technical problems over the previous several days. Nevertheless, police are still conducting further investigation to determine the fire’s cause.

“Information from the field indicates that the light cables and machine were only repaired three days ago because they had malfunctioned. Currently, we have cordoned off the location so that our forensic team can conduct further analysis,” Pasek concluded.
