Major Fire in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta: 3 Residents Injured
Three residents were injured in the incident, with two receiving treatment at Hermina Hospital in Kemayoran and one referred to RSCM (Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital), according to Kemayoran Police Chief Kompol Agung Ardiyansyah, who spoke to journalists on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
Ardiyansyah stated that the fire was believed to have been caused by electrical short-circuiting. Current losses have yet to be assessed.
“The cause of the fire is suspected to stem from electrical short-circuit,” he said.
Approximately 250 residential homes were reported destroyed by the fire. A total of 330 families were affected by the disaster.
The fire was extinguished after seven hours. Fire service personnel received initial notification of the blaze on Monday, 1 June, at approximately 20:55 Western Indonesia Time (WIB), with firefighting operations commencing at 21:05 WIB. Extinguishing operations concluded at 04:15 WIB.
“Fire situation/status: extinguishing operations completed,” stated Jakarta Fire Service’s command centre.
“Deployment of units/personnel: 35 units/175 personnel,” it added.
The exact cause and sequence of events for the Kemayoran fire remain unknown. Additionally, final data confirming whether there were fatalities from the fire has not yet been released.
The government has prepared an evacuation point for residents at Jusuf Hamka Field on Benyamin Suaeb Street for registration and coordination of disaster relief assistance. Safrizal ZA, Director-General of Regional Administrative Development at the Ministry of Home Affairs, stated that evacuation facilities have been prepared with support from various parties.
“Temporary evacuation shelters have been established so residents do not gather on the streets and can rest, along with logistics provided by the Regional Disaster Management Agency in collaboration with the Social Services Office, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), and the National Zakat Agency (Baznas),” Safrizal explained as reported by Antara.
Three tents have been prepared by the Jakarta Social Services Office, and various logistics vehicles from the Indonesian Red Cross and Regional Disaster Management Agency have arrived at the location. Currently, registration is underway covering affected residents in two neighbourhood associations: RW 04, which encompasses five sub-divisions (RT 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16), and RW 05, which comprises three sub-divisions (RT 01, 02, and 03).
