Majalengka (ANTARA) - The Majalengka Regency Government, West Java, is accelerating repairs of 117 kilometres of roads across 30 locations ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026 to support smooth mudik traffic and residents’ mobility. Mayor Eman Suherman said the acceleration is to complete the majority of works before Eid so benefits can be felt by residents. ‘We are racing to complete before Eid. The aim is that people can enjoy better roads during mudik and while visiting relatives. Even if some remain unfinished, the rest will continue after Eid,’ he said in Majalengka on Tuesday. He noted that the total budget allocated for the repairs amounts to Rp143 billion sourced from the Majalengka Regency’s Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD). Eman emphasised that speeding up the works must not compromise quality, the project using a large amount of public funds. ‘Quality must be good. There must be no practices of profiteering or cutting corners. This is money of the people,’ he said. He urged contractors and construction service providers to work professionally and preserve the quality of the results so that they last. ‘We do not want speed for speed’s sake if the quality is poor. It is better to be measured, but the results should be truly felt by the community,’ he said. At present, he added, several damaged points have been addressed through patching and by upgrading road structures according to the damage level on each route. ‘Heavy equipment and workers are seen starting work on several strategically connecting routes between regions,’ he noted.
