Majalengka (ANTARA) - The Majalengka Chapter of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) in West Java is preparing market certainty to support the development of the local roof-tile industry through collaboration with housing developers and the banking sector in the region. Chairman of Majalengka Kadin, Raden Suryanatanagara, said the step is a response from the business sector to the central government’s housing programme integrated with the Majalengka Regency government. “This is part of Kadin’s response to the central government’s programme, which we synergise with the district administration. We are not only nurturing roof-tile entrepreneurs, but ensuring a clear market,” said Raden in a statement in Majalengka, on Tuesday. He explained that the tiling programme had been conceived for about a year with the Regent of Majalengka, but gained momentum again after the housing issue was reiterated in a national coordination meeting. Kadin Majalengka, he said, invited all stakeholders, including representatives from state-owned banks (Himbara), to discuss financing schemes and the certainty of absorbing local tile products. “In that forum, around 30 tile entrepreneurs and nearly 35 housing developers attended,” he said. He noted that besides discussing capital access, a memorandum of understanding was also signed with the Department of Housing, Settlement Areas and Land (Rumkintan) and the Ciayumajakuning developers’ association covering the Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka and Kuningan region.
