Maintain the purity of Ramadhan
Maintain the purity of Ramadhan
On Monday, Muslims throughout Indonesia and around the world
began the holy month of Ramadhan, when they shunned eating or
drinking, as well as lustful pleasures from dawn to dusk.
During Ramadhan, we certainly long for a peaceful situation in
the political arena and security in all places in our country, as
well as a stable economic and monetary condition.
All public elements are expected to maintain the purity of
Ramadhan. Those who are and are not fasting can build mutual
understanding and respect.
So long as all parties are able to realize the meaning of this
life in plurality, then everything would go in perfect harmony.
It would be absolutely wrong if during Ramadhan, Muslims would
take every opportunity on behalf of the holy month to carry out
destructive acts, which are against religious teachings.
Ramadhan cannot be considered as a time of relaxing because it
is in this holy month that Moslems are challenged to improve
their work ethics as well as their spiritual life.
For non-Muslims, Ramadhan is an opportunity to show their
great respect for and solidarity with their Moslem brothers and
sisters who are fasting.
So, let us be one in keeping Ramadhan's purity in the context
of the nation's plurality. Happy fasting, God bless you.
