Luxury Jewellery Shop in Pluit Sealed by Customs — What Caused It?
Jakarta, VIVA – A joint team from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Jakarta Regional Office, and the Directorate General of Taxation, North Jakarta, sealed a jewellery shop in Pluit, Penjaringan, North Jakarta on Friday, 20 February 2026.
Head of the Intelligence Section at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Jakarta Regional Office, Nugroho Arief Darmawan, explained that his office together with the North Jakarta Tax Office inspected the Bening Luxury jewellery shop over suspected failure to fulfil customs revenue collection and tax obligations.
“The target, Bening Luxury, which we are currently conducting an administrative inspection on, is suspected of not having fulfilled revenue collection obligations in the area of import duties as well as taxation — both value-added tax and income tax,” said Nugroho.
According to him, the sealing was carried out to facilitate the administrative inspection from both the customs revenue and taxation perspectives.
“Together, we have undertaken security measures in the form of sealing as part of administrative enforcement action, which will facilitate our inspection from both the customs revenue and taxation sides. This is merely to streamline the subsequent steps,” he emphasised.
He added that he could not yet disclose the findings from the inspection conducted by officers at the jewellery shop, as the examination process was still being carried out by the teams from the Directorate General of Taxation and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Jakarta Regional Office.
“We cannot answer regarding findings at this stage because the process will still be conducted at the office. In due course, the teams from the Directorate General of Taxation and Customs and Excise will announce the results of their inspection,” he said.
He affirmed that Customs and Excise officers from the Jakarta Regional Office carried out the enforcement action on the basis of customs legislation, namely Article 75 Paragraph (1) and Article 103 of Law Number 17 of 2006.
“For goods that we suspect are formerly imported goods or goods produced overseas, Customs and Excise has the authority to inspect formerly imported goods within Indonesian territory — in this case, within Indonesia’s customs territory,” he explained.
In addition, Nugroho noted that the joint team from Customs and Excise and the Jakarta Regional Tax Office did not limit enforcement to just one jewellery shop. Other outlets were also targeted for administrative inspection.
