National Traffic Police Corps (Korlantas) chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho deployed his officers to ensure smooth traffic flow during the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday. Large vehicles found stopping or parking on toll road shoulders were subject to enforcement action, as such behaviour frequently causes congestion and accidents.

Monitoring operations were led by Commissioner Ruben V Takaendengan, Head of the Patrol and Highway Police Subdivision at Korlantas’ Traffic Enforcement Directorate. Patrols were conducted along several major toll road sections including Cikampek, Cipali, and Jagorawi on Tuesday (17 February 2026).

“In accordance with instructions from the Korlantas chief (Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho), we are clearing large lorries that remain stopped on toll road shoulders. Road shoulders must be kept clear for emergency use, not as rest stops or parking areas,” said Commissioner Ruben in his report.

On the Cikampek Toll Road, officers found a number of large lorries parked on the shoulder beyond rest area Km 19B. Highway patrol officers from the Cikampek unit immediately conducted enforcement in a persuasive but firm manner.

Similar measures were taken on the Jagorawi Toll Road heading towards Bogor. As a result, the entire route was monitored to be free of vehicles parked on the shoulder, thanks to intensive oversight by the Jagorawi unit.

“The traffic situation on the Cikampek Toll Road through to the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate in both directions is flowing smoothly and is under control,” he said.

Beyond vehicle enforcement, Korlantas also highlighted road infrastructure conditions. There was a queue of approximately 400 metres at Km 29 on the Cikampek Toll Road, and a lane narrowing at Km 75 on the Cipali Toll Road due to road repairs being carried out by the Toll Road Enterprise Agency (BUJT).

“On the Cipali Toll Road (Km 72-188) heading towards Central Java, traffic is flowing but several potholes have been found that may slow vehicle speeds. We urge motorists to remain vigilant and maintain speeds of around 80 km/h,” Ruben explained.

The shoulder-clearing and monitoring operations represent a tangible expression of the ‘Traffic Police Greet and Serve’ philosophy promoted by Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho. Officers are present on the ground not merely to direct traffic, but to ensure road user safety without the barrier of authority.

Since this afternoon, one-way priority traffic has been in effect on the Jagorawi Toll Road from Jakarta towards Bogor. Priority has been given to vehicles descending from Bogor towards Jakarta in anticipation of heavy return-holiday traffic flows.
