Lt. Col. Iman H. assigned as city police spokesman
JAKARTA (JP): City Police Chief Maj. Gen. Dibyo Widodo replaced Lt. Col. Bambang Permantoro with Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna as city police spokesman yesterday.
Bambang, who has served as city police spokesman for only about three months, has been appointed head of the Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters.
He will replace Lt. Col. Elfrizo Tobing, who is to be appointed new Bekasi police chief next week.
The new city police spokesman, Iman, will be 43 years old on Thursday next week. He is already familiar with most of the city's crime reporters, as he has served as a city police officer for some 10 years in many different areas, particularly crime investigation.
He was head of the Sawah Besar police sub-precinct in Central Jakarta from 1989 to 1990, head of the Crime Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta police (1990-1991) and deputy head of the Jakarta Crime Investigation Directorate (1991-1992).
Iman graduated as one of the best cadets of the Indonesian Armed Forces Academy in 1975.
He graduated from the Police College in 1982 and from the Senior Officers School last year. He then served as head of the Crime Investigation Directorate of the East Java Police. (bsr)
