Jakarta – The Chairman of the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) Board of Commissioners, Anggito Abimanyu, reported that the institution has made payments of Rp 304.8 billion in deposit claims out of a total eligible payable amount of Rp 1.53 trillion at three Rural Credit Banks (BPRs) that have been liquidated year-to-date.

According to him, the number of closures of BPRs and Sharia Rural Economic Banks (BPRS) remains relatively low up to now and does not show any significant increase when compared to 2024 and 2025.

“If we compare with 2024 and 2025, there are no additions either on a cumulative or annual basis for BPR-BPRS liquidations. So the pattern is still the normal pattern for 2026,” said Anggito during the Press Conference on the Results of the Second Periodic KSSK Meeting of 2026 at the Bank Indonesia office complex, Jakarta, on Thursday, 7 May 2026.

To date, a total of seven BPRs have had their business licences revoked by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), with the most recent revocation for BPR Sungai Rumbai in West Sumatra on 7 April 2026.

The other BPRs whose licences have been revoked include BPR Suliki Gunung Mas in West Sumatra, BPR Koperindo Jaya in Central Jakarta, BPR Pembangunan Nagari in West Sumatra, BPR Prima Master Bank in East Java, BPR Bank Cirebon in West Java, and BPR Kamadana in Bali.

Anggito emphasised that LPS continues to strive to maintain public trust and the stability of the financial system through the optimal implementation of the deposit guarantee programme and bank resolution.

From the guarantee perspective, the coverage of the number of insured accounts remains consistently above 90 per cent for commercial banks as well as BPRs/BPRS.

Previously, the Head of Banking Supervision at OJK, Dian Ediana Rae, stated that the authority is still observing the ongoing trend of declining BPR numbers in 2026.

In addition to licence revocations, whether through self-liquidation or entry into the status of banks under resolution (BDR), this decline in the number of BPRs is also in line with the implementation of BPR consolidation under the same ownership through business mergers/amalgamations.

As of 11 March 2026, 142 BPRs and BPRS have effectively consolidated into 50 BPR-BPRS. Meanwhile, 22 BPR-BPRS that will become 6 BPR-BPRS are still in process at the Ministry of Law, and another 242 BPR-BPRS are in process at OJK.
