The Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) is still calculating the amount of scholarship funds that will be returned by Arya Iwantoro, husband of Dwi Sasetyaningtyas, who has become the focus of public attention due to a post on social media. LPDP Director General Sudarto stated that they are currently calculating the value of the return, including interest on the education funds received during his study period.

“The value of the return is still being calculated. We have all the data,” said Sudarto during a media briefing at the Ministry of Finance office, Jakarta, Wednesday (February 25) evening.

He explained that Arya studied from 2015-2016 and continued his studies in the 2017-2021 period. LPDP is currently calculating the total funding provided during that period, including interest.

Sudarto ensured that the results of the calculation will be announced to the public, given that this issue concerns national interests.

Previously, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that Arya had expressed his willingness to return all the scholarship funds he received.

According to Purbaya, the return will include the principal and interest, given that LPDP funds come from Indonesian taxpayers and state funding allocated for human resource development.

He also regretted the social media post that sparked controversy and was considered to be demeaning to the country.

The Minister of Finance affirmed that the government will request a full refund of the funds and will also consider further administrative measures, including placing the individual on a blacklist so that they cannot work in the government environment.

This polemic began with a post by Dwi Sasetyaningtyas on her personal Instagram account on February 20, 2026, which featured her child’s British passport, accompanied by a statement that sparked controversy because it was considered not to reflect pride in being an Indonesian citizen. (Ant/E-3)
