LPDP Still Calculating Scholarship Repayment Obligations for AP
The Education Fund Management Agency, or LPDP, has confirmed that the scholarship recipient with the initials AP will be subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations, following a breach of their contribution obligations. The Head of LPDP’s Legal and Communications Division, M. Lukmanul Hakim, stated that the agency is still processing the imposition of these sanctions. According to him, LPDP is also still calculating the amount of funds that AP must repay as a result of their actions. “The repayment deadline cannot yet be announced because all administrative procedures, data verification, and calculations are still in progress,” he said when contacted on Tuesday, 24 February 2026. Scroll down to continue reading. AP is the husband of an LPDP scholarship recipient, Dwi Sasetyaningtyas. This case came to light after Dwi posted about her child’s citizenship status on social media. “I know the world seems unfair. But it’s enough that I am an Indonesian citizen (WNI); my children don’t need to be. We will ensure that our children have strong foreign passports,” Dwi said in a video recording shared on social media. Dwi has apologised on her personal Instagram account. Dwi admitted that the statement stemmed from her personal disappointment, fatigue, and frustration as an Indonesian citizen towards various conditions. However, Dwi realised that this disappointment should not have been expressed in a way that could potentially hurt the feelings of many people. In a separate statement, the Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, said that the government will put AP on a blacklist, preventing him from working in government institutions. Purbaya assured that AP will also receive other sanctions for allegedly insulting Indonesia. “I will blacklist him. He will not be able to work in any government institution,” said Purbaya on Monday, 23 February 2026. In addition, Purbaya estimated that the amount of education funds that AP must repay will amount to billions of rupiah. However, he has not yet specified the exact figure. Purbaya said that AP has agreed to repay the education funds he received as an LPDP awardee, along with interest. “Therefore, we will enforce the rules in place at LPDP so that the individual fulfils their responsibilities to LPDP,” he said.
