LPDP: Online Options Available for Participants with Limitations
The Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) has responded to complaints from participants regarding the pre-departure orientation activities involving outdoor sessions with the military. These outdoor activities will include physical exercises and marching drills.
LPDP stated that it has prepared adjustments for participants with certain conditions. Head of the Law and Communications Division of LPDP, M. Lukmanul Hakim, said that the institution understands the diversity of backgrounds and physical conditions among scholarship recipients.
Therefore, he said, the principle of inclusivity remains the benchmark in implementing the orientation. “LPDP understands the diversity of conditions among scholarship recipients and applies the principle of inclusivity, where these activities are part of an adjusted learning method,” said Lukmanul on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.
He explained that participants with disabilities, pregnant women, or those with certain health conditions have been given adjustment options, such as participating in activities online. “Participants with disabilities, pregnant women, or certain health conditions are given adjustments and alternative participation,” he stated.
Based on the activity letter received by Tempo, the pre-departure preparation activities will take place from 4-9 May 2026 at the Marsekal Sukardi Building, Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base. Some of the materials in the agenda will be delivered by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).
A total of 206 participants are scheduled to attend the activities. They consist of scholarship recipients for master’s and doctoral programmes, both for studies in Indonesia and abroad. All series of activities are mandatory before participants begin their lectures.
The letter states that the orientation aims to strengthen mindset, independence, instil noble national values, reinforce nationalism, and internalise LPDP values and culture.
Previously, Head of the Air Force Information Service, First Marshal I Nyoman Suadnyana, said that the involvement of the TNI in this activity is only to provide material on discipline, marching, and character building.
Nyoman said that the marching training to the provision of nationalistic values by the TNI is a request from LPDP. “The Air Force TNI in principle only assists in preparing the venue and material instructors according to LPDP’s request, so it will not deviate from the purpose of the activity,” said Nyoman.
