JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP) has confirmed that Prihartini, one of the names suspected of involvement in research fraud at the 2026 International Society of Pneumonia and Pneumococcal Diseases (ISPPD) conference held in Copenhagen, Denmark, previously received an LPDP scholarship.

“Initial internal data checks confirmed that the individual, named Prihantini, is listed as an LPDP scholarship alumnus who completed their studies in 2022,” said M Lukmanul Hakim, Head of the Legal and Communications Division, to Kompas.com on Thursday (28 May 2026).

However, Lukmanul stated that LPDP needs to further investigate and review the circulating information, including verifying relevant data and facts.

“LPDP will conduct further scrutiny regarding compliance with scholarship contract obligations and coordinate with relevant parties, including universities, to obtain comprehensive clarity,” he added.

LPDP reaffirmed its commitment to upholding integrity, professionalism, and academic ethics.

It also stated that it does not tolerate any form of violation in scientific activities.

“LPDP appreciates public attention and is committed to maintaining accountability and the honour of Indonesia’s academic community at the global level,” he said.

Social media has been abuzz with allegations of research manipulation by several Indonesian researchers at an international pneumonia conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The case first came to light after the X (Twitter) account @mandharabrasika revealed several irregularities allegedly occurring in front of thousands of scientists worldwide.

One highlighted violation was identity fraud by a participant during a presentation.

In addition to identity falsification, the research presented is strongly suspected to be fabricated.

The researchers are believed to have used artificial intelligence (AI) to forge data, images, and the entire content of academic papers.

Previously, social media was abuzz with allegations of research manipulation by several Indonesian researchers at an international pneumonia conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Indonesian researchers are suspected of committing identity fraud during presentations.

According to the posting account, the scheme is suspected to have been deliberately carried out to obtain travel grant funding, allowing perpetrators to travel abroad for free.
