The development of the creative economy requires a business ecosystem capable of expanding market access, financing, and strengthening the capacity of business actors. Cooperatives are considered to have an important role in connecting creative economy players with various business development opportunities. This was conveyed by LPDB Cooperatives President Director Krisdianto at the opening of Pekan Kreatif Nusantara (PKN) 2026 at GOR Jetayu, Pekalongan City, Central Java, on Thursday (18/6/2026). The event featured exhibitions of regional superior products, MSMEs, cooperatives, the creative economy, and the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperative Festival (KDKMP). Krisdianto stated that Pekalongan is an example of a region capable of developing a culture-based creative economy as a driver of the community’s economy. “For 12 years, Pekalongan City has maintained its UNESCO World Creative City designation in the Crafts and Folk Art category. This achievement demonstrates consistency in developing community creativity as part of regional economic development. This is an accomplishment worthy of appreciation and serves as an inspiration for other regions in Indonesia,” Krisdianto said in a press release on Saturday (20/6/2026). According to him, strengthening the national economy must be supported by a productive people’s economy. Therefore, community creativity and innovation need to be supported through a healthy and sustainable business ecosystem. Within this framework, cooperatives are seen as having a function not only as business entities but also as a vehicle for strengthening the community’s economic capacity through the principles of mutual cooperation and member participation. “Cooperatives do not only function as business entities but also serve as a means to strengthen the community’s economic capacity through the principles of mutual cooperation, togetherness, and participation,” said Krisdianto. He explained that the government is currently encouraging the development of Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDKMP) to strengthen supply chains, expand financing access, and increase the added value of community products. During the event, LPDB Cooperatives also opened a Revolving Fund Financing Coaching Clinic service. This service is intended for cooperative administrators, KDKMP managers, and business actors who wish to obtain information regarding financing access, business governance, and business development strategies. “LPDB Cooperatives’ presence at this event is part of our commitment to bringing financing services closer to the community. We want more cooperatives and KDKMP to understand access to productive financing so they can grow into centres of community economic activity that are healthy, productive, and competitive,” Krisdianto stated. According to him, cooperatives can also assist creative economy actors, from artisans and culinary entrepreneurs to fashion designers and artists, in expanding their business networks and improving market access. Pekan Kreatif Nusantara 2026 took place from 18 to 21 June 2026, featuring various activities including regional superior product exhibitions, MSME festivals, business matching, MSME digitalisation workshops, financial literacy festivals, and cultural arts performances.
